Oh Boy!

YEAH! Jessica S. had her baby! Sam S. was born last night and weighed in at 9 pounds and was 22 inches long. Kendall and I are going to meet him and the proud new parents at the hospital tonight.

While these days are the hardest reminders that we don't have our own child yet, it's so wonderful to see the glow on other people's faces after their own baby is born. Plus, I get to squeeze the baby.....=) I'll post his picture later.

Stimulation Overload

OMG! Serisouly, I'm on overload.

1. Gilmore Girls- I have 5 discs left to watch before Tuesday.

2. I'm halfway through a really good historical romance novel.

3. It's People Magazine Day!

4. I have several shows waiting for me on Tivo including Deal or No Deal, My Name is Earl, and The Office.

5. My mom is coming to visit for the weekend and I have to do some cleaning.

6. It's Friday!

And I quote, "OK, Vesta". Dude, I didn't even get a "Blessings" or "Love" like she usually sends. While I really don't care, I can't believe she's being such a baby about it. Seriously, she said she wanted to know more about me, well, that's knowing more about me. I like the ACLU. Oh well, it all comes back to the same thing, I'm just the radical, democratic, left-wing, daughter that shames her family name. She doesn't have to say it, I know it!

Anyways, I'll write the boss story later. I have come home for 15 mins to let the dogs out and now I have to go back to work to collect money at the volleyball game. Why do I volunteer to do these things? Oh wait, because no one else will!

Perks and Other Nonsense

It's a list kind of day...

1. If I had to list the perks to Kendall's job, I would find myself struggling to come up with much. His insurance is terrible, his hours are terrible, and even some of the people he has to work with...are terrible! But the one thing they have going for them is their annual Physician Outing. Last year we got free tickets to Moving Out at the Arahnoff (sp?) and this year...two free tickets to a dinner cruise during Tall Stacks! Heck yea! Dinner, a show, and a three hour tour! Plus, we get into all Tall Stacks events free for the whole day. I really enjoyed this event the last time it was in town and really wanted to ride one of the boats. And now I get to do it for free! If anyone else is interested, it's Oct. 8th and we can get extra tickets for $75 bucks a piece. I need to know asap, otherwise, we'll just make it the two of us!

2. Tivo- AGAIN. I'm really happy with it still. It hasn't failed me yet! I got to rewind Deal or No Deal on Monday night because I missed the first 15 mins. And it remembered my TV show last night when I didn't! Excellent....

3. Speaking of Deal or No Deal- Holy crap Monday was a great episode! I haven't watched Tuesday's yet, but on Monday, the guy picked the 3 million dollar case and sold it! ARGH!!! Oh well, it was great TV.

4. I feel the need to start a blog all about TV. If I decide to go that route, in addition to what I write here, I'll let you know. I'm just so excited about fall TV starting again!

5. School Drama- I kinda had an intense meeting with my boss this week, if anyone's interested, I'll blog it, otherwise I've told the story like 5 times already.

6. Gilmore Girls Season 6- Just bought it last night. I have watched two episodes already and plan on getting in two more tonight. I have to have it finished by next Tuesday to start Season 7. I love it!

7. ACLU- now I know some of you out there are Republicans....and I don't know how we remain friends...(just kidding)...but my mother-in-law sent me an email today bashing the ACLU. Now I can't say I support everything they stand for, but I feel like the support a great many good things that we need someone to stand up for. Like gay rights. And abortion rights. And women. And all minorities. So I sent her an email asking her not to send me any more ACLU bashing...we'll see if she starts an arguement....at least it would give me something else to blog about!

8. Got half of my blood work results back and so far, things look pretty good. My immune system is functioning normally, but they still have to run a second set to make sure none of the rest of my body is killing my babies. Long story. Once again, if you ask, I'll share.

Okay, gotta go watch Gilmore! I'm lovin' this cold weather! I'm going to go bundle up and wait for Kendall to come home so we can eat grilled cheese and tomato soup!

TIVO! TIVO!

OMG! I can't believe I haven't blogged about this yet! We've had Tivo for two days already! I think it's probably one of the greatest technological advances the world has made....right after curing cancer that is...

Anyways, we were getting frustrated with ourselves over our DVD burner. We weren't setting it up right and were forgetting to change to the channel we wanted to record. Plus, there were some time changes by DirecTV and we didn't know about them so it recorded the wrong thing a couple of times. So, we caved and ordered Tivo. Now the machine does all the thinking. I simply type in the names of the shows I want to record and select it in the menu. Then I select that I want it to record all first runs of the season, and it just does it! INCREDIBLE!

I just Tivoed the Megan Mullally Show Premier. And tonight, Deal or No Deal! I could seriously hug that machine. No...seriously! And speaking of "seriously" is anyone else incredibly excited that Grey's Anatomy is starting again this week?!!?!!?!!?!

GAS

I would just like to note that gas is under two dollars today in Dayton. I never thought I'd see the day again....and the worst part is, that gas has gotten so expensive, under two bucks seems cheap! Oh the days of 70 cents a gallon!

A Tribute to Gingersnap in 4 Parts-Part 1

I just had the greatest time catching up with an old high school boyfriend. He was in town from New Mexico doing some training with the Air Force. We only dated for three months my sophomore year, but they were obviously blissful ones, based on these shots. Look at these smiles! We were on our way to Homecoming 1994. We made such the odd couple, be he was just a sweet boy. He is still a sweet man. Same sense of humor.

We connected on an adult level and that was enjoyable. Much of our conversation was catching up on each others lives, we haven't seen each other in 7 years!

It was really great to catch up and we both agreed we need to get together again sooner than later. He's moving to Illinois from New Mexico in a few months and I would really like to meet his wife.

To Those Comtemplating the Switch to Beta

Here's my take on the new Beta Blogger....

1. I can't say that much has changed between the old and new. It pretty much looks the same as it always did. Even your dashboard hasn't changed that much when signing in.

2. They have jumped on the Google Supertrain that everyone else and their mom has bought into. You now sign in with your Google email address. While it's nice to know I can write posts that save to draft through my email, it's not all that convenient when it comes right down to it.

3. It has some severe limitations at this point. You can't upload YouTube to it. You can't even upload pictures to your blog right now. That's very frustrating as I wanted to write a post about Ok Go and post their picture and video here. They claim they're resolving things, but I'm not seeing it. Plus, you can't leave comments with your name on non-beta blogs. Another annoyance as I now have to sign them as anonymous and remember to put my name at the end.

4. One of the newest features is that you can rearrange your template. You can move features around. They haven't added any new templates, but you can alter more about them, like text color on a regular basis. If I really cared about that, it would be a much cooler feature.

Overall, I recommend everyone stick to the old Blogger for now until they work the kinks out. I guess I should have known that when I saw the word beta. Nothing in beta is ever very good. And I can't even switch back which is probably the biggest drawback of them all. I'll let you know when it's improved.

Just a blanket statement...

If one more person tells me that it's all in God's time or God's plan, I swear I will slap them. I seriously don't want to hear that right now. And I feel I'm completely entitled to all of my feelings. If you feel the need to suddenly get religious on my ass, don't bother. You weren't in the past, so don't start now. I like it that way. I'll keep my God hating to myself from now on if it's going to become a hassel. I like that my blog is something I can share my feelings in, but there are just some things that people should leave alone. Give me your sympathy, but not your soap box. On that note, I think I'll refrain from mentioning any baby news on this blog to save myself the headache. If you want to know, call me. You know the number.

Service Project

We helped out with a service project through church yesterday. Even though I'm incredibly angry with God right now, I didn't feel like I could take it out on other people by not helping, so we headed over to help an 8 month pregnant lady move out of her apartment. How's that for ironic? I'm mad at God for not giving me a baby, and I go to help an 8th month pregnant single mom move.

Anyways, I have to say that after moving her out of her apartment, I feel:
a) incredibly wealthy
b) incredibly selfish for the things that I want and buy
c) a new appreciation for vaccumming/dusting/mopping my floors
d) dogs that don't shed

Holy crap did this lady have dog hair. Everywhere. Kendall helped to move out one of their couches and when he took the couch away from his face he had giant globs of dog hair still stuck to his cheek. YUCK! We all left covered in dog hair. It was on every piece of furniture that we moved. This reinforced the notion that Kendall and I will never have a large dog. Because they pretty much all shed.

I have to say that we were a little un-Christian in our response to the filth. We didn't say or do anything in front of the lady, but when we saw her soiled mattrass, several of us refused to touch it. And then underneath was piles of dog hair and dirty clothes, it almost made me gag. The other thing we noticed was a smell that permeated the entire apartment, a combination of wet dog, dirty clothes, and something we couldn't identify. The last observation that was made was that it seems like those who are "less fortunate" (aka "poor") always seem to own a HUGE ass TV. Why is that? Several people that the church has helped move have been low income and yet seem to afford a big screen TV. Any thoughts?

Overall, it was a good experience on many levels and the woman involved was very appreciative and even cried once. I enjoyed helping her, and who knows, maybe it was good karma for our baby making.

So, we were pregnant. And now we're not. And it sucks. This is the third time this has happened. And I hate God. The End.

p.s. On a totally different note, I signed up for Beta Blogger, and now it won't let me comment on anyones blog who doesn't use Beta. And I can't switch back. Yet another way I'm being crapped on. Oh yeah, and I have a bad cold. God really hates me back.
