I Just Want to Whine

I have a lumpy, ugly pregnancy belly. It's not cute. It's wavy. It's round at the bottom and round at the top and dips in the middle. I know some of that is from my previous stomach fat. And that makes me sad. When I lay down, my belly doesn't look so bad. But when I stand up, it's wavy. It's like the middle just won't pop out. I'm worried that it never will and I will be a freakish looking pregnant lady the whole time.

I start school in 3 weeks and I don't want the kids to think I look weird. I'm self conscious about wearing tight shirts. Because I don't feel like people think I'm pregnant, they just think I'm fat. I see women all the time who have these nice round bellies. Why isn't mine round?

It makes me grumpy and self conscious and kinda ruins the whole getting bigger thing for me.

To cheer myself up, sometimes I lay down and pretend that's what my belly looks like to other people. Usually M moves at that point, and it makes me feel less fat. If I was too fat, I wouldn't even feel those movements yet.

Oh yeah, and sometimes, when I laugh to hard or I cough while laying down, my belly button pops out. It's freakish...and hilarious all at the same time.

Just wait...it will get bigger and you'll think-my skin can't possible stretch any more! And your belly button will stay popped out all the time!

Isn't that the coolest thing when you see your belly moving? I loved it when my girls moved.

maranda is right - it'll even out - there's no way it can't! :)

make sure you lay on your side and not back - you're getting to "that point". :)

I know what you mean Lisa...I had that 2 part belly when I sat down for the longest time...then pow! It pops out and starts to hurt, and gets bigger...you'll see! Most people will know you're pregnant from your glowing face, crazy random hormones, and obsessively looking at all things relating to babies :)

I am sure it would make me self-conscious too. No worries, you are going to have a baby!!! Watching little M move has to make you smile more then you frown from a two part tummy.

I LOVE the random popping out belly button. I would probably force myself to cough just to make it do that, while it still can and before it stays out (how sad the day you cough and it doesn't go back...). It'd be like my favorite new "stupid human trick".

From what I understand, all pregnant women go through the "fat" stage. It'll round out soon, I'm sure. :) And then we will expect profile pics! I had a friend who was timed just like you (she delivered Dec 10). She particularly HATED that her "fat" stage was during the summer. She wore maternity-cut clothing before she really needed to in order to "help" people realize there was a baby in there and she wasn't just fat. But that also means you may round out in time for returning to school. :)

Yeah, the randomly popping belly button is definitely the greatest image ever!
