While I'm out mowing my lawn it seems like they get even crazier. It's like the lawn mower irritates them or maybe (even scarier) it sounds like a mating call. It seems like whenever I drive under a tree I can hear them screaming at me. And crawling on me. Even thinking about them crawling on my makes me feel like they're crawling on me.
They stick to my window screens. They fly around while we take the dogs for a walk. The other day, one landed on me. I screamed and danced in circles. It makes me scared to go outside for more than a few minutes at a time. And while I'm out there, I'm looking to make sure they don't land on me.
Their shells/skins are lying in my flower beds and stuck to my garage door. It's so NASTY. I can't wait for them to die in the first frost. Is it fall yet?

That makes me happy that I'm not the ony person who realizes they are harmless but screams and acts crazy if they get near me. I think its their beady red eyes. I'm happy I'm not teaching elementary students now who like to throw them on their teacher to watch her scream.
you're getting them late! we had them a few weeks ago but only on the east side. :)
hahaha! I haven't seen one out here since I've been here. I think it's hilarious. They certainly are UGLY and completely freaky, however, I love watching people doing the cicada dance. Becareful that one's not on you when you go inside. ;)
Oh, and while they creap you out, the good news about the shells all over your garden is they are very nutrient dense - once they decompose and turn over in the soil, your soil will be healthier for next year!
I have no fear of cicada's but I do not want them on me. I don't want any bug on me.
Oh and as bugs go-they are not very intelligent as I have them fly into me all of the time.
Once, again, confirmation that i picked a great spot to live when we moved back here...I've been hearing the cicadas, too, but farther south in Chicago and the burbs rather than up by us.
Last year was the year that the 17-year cicadas came out in Chicago. We did not see one up by our house, though I did see a few in the city. Folks in Park Ridge, about 25 minutes from where I live, said they were sweeping the bugs off of their porches, and my boss who lives in the south burbs said he was using a shovel rather than a broom. Gross!
I meant to tell you, I had a dream where I ran into you at a mall and went to touch your stomach and you about knocked me out. There is no baby belly touching you kept reiterating. I have no idea why I had that dream :)

I can't find your new email- I only have the old dayton one. Can you send it to me so I can send you the info you wanted?
