A before shot of our yard, just after we purchased the house. The trees are ginormous and the plants in between them barely grew last summer.
The after shot of our back yard. We cut the trees up about three feet and now all of the plants around them are growing like crazy!
We pulled out 12 bushes from this part of the front.
We cut down a huge tree! I was agonizing over whether to get rid of it, but ultimately the decision felt right after seeing how clean the space looked without it.Here are the after shots of what we've done so far. We're out of budgeted money for now. So plants have been put on hold until the fall. But in our minds there is a drastic difference between all of the dead stuff and just a few simple bushes.
Sorry it's not very exciting and probably anticlimactic, but we'll keep updating the shots as we add plants. :)

The yard does look nice and sculptured. Maybe there are already flowering plants there and they will now grow since they will see some sunshine?!?

Oooh, I like that the big tree is gone. It was blocking windows. The trees in the yard look great, too.

It makes a huge difference, and looks great! I had to look at the backyard pictures three times because it was so different!!
