Okay, so many of the boxes are now unpacked! The house still feels "messy", but I still have two days to clean it too. We are getting more organized with furniture and such. It's so hard to decide where to put things when you move. When you bought them, they all had a place. And now, when you move them, you have to find a new one. Sometimes things change rooms completely!
I think the thing that drives me the most crazy is that everything doesn't match the way I want it to. And it's because I'm too impatient, and a little compulsive. I want everything to match right away, and it doesn't. We're still poor. And we don't want to go overboard. Plus, we don't really have anything hanging on the walls. That makes it hard too. It just doesn't feel lived in yet. I know that it will take time, but once again...impatience.
Our new furniture purchases are all in the house. I still have so many things I want to replace! Much of our old stuff is mismatched items from garage sales and hand-me-downs. I think what makes it hard is that it seems out of place in our new house. In our old house it felt right. The house was old, our things were old. Maybe it will just take time.
No real excitement here anymore. I turned down another chair from our dining room set. The stain still didn't look right. Arhaus has had to come out twice now with a replacement chair. I feel bad telling them no, but those chairs were 300 bucks a piece. I want them all to be perfect! They have to last until I die!! LOL! Our new desk is nice. It seems a little big for the room, but Kendall is happy with it. I try not to be too pushy with my tastes, I want him to have input too.
Wow, what a boring post! I guess that's a good thing! Oh, those of you that know the Kipps....they had a little girl on Tuesday, Ella Elizabeth. She weighed in at 6 1/2 pounds. And for those of you that don't know them....they had the same due date as Karen........hmmmm......Any day now????

i found myself nodding through your blog - i think our new house will feel hte same way - nothing fits perfectly or looks "just right" though probably everyone who visits would disagree! Pictures on the wall will certainly help.
I agree. pictures def help.
so, I know I live in an apt and it doesn't quite count the same, however, my decorating technique? COORDINATE every room (though def. not match), that way, when I moved, it worked great b/c things could change rooms and still look good together. And simple changes like accessories can tie an otherwise seemingly mismatched room together.
HA. That's interior design by Martha, who, by the way, pretty much sucks at any design stuff (i.e. take my comment w/a grain of salt!!)
LOL! I TRY to coordinate things....it's mostly just the worry that it will look dumb to someone elses eye that worries me. I like it, but will other people??
I too was nodding in agreement through your whole post. It's totally true.
