Fast update while Max naps!
Max:
- His stomach issues seem to be under control a lot more. He rarely spits up. It's nice.
- He's now eating rice and oatmeal cereals, peas, green beans, pears, and applesauce. I think we are going to try carrots tonight. He refuses nothing. He gobbles it up. It's hilarious. He cries when it's all gone.
- Still trying to work on sitting up on his own. Still struggling with it.
- Wearing size 12-18 month summer clothes. Good thing for stuff we got as gifts and garage sales.
- He sleeps from 8:30 to 7 now. Super nice. I wish he'd sleep from 10 to 9 for the weekends. :P
- Still not talking much. I want him to say more. I'm hoping he won't be behind. He doesn't make the usual baby sounds, just screeches a lot. I know he can hear me though. He turns when I say his name.
- We've been working on 10 animal flashcards at least twice a day. Current animals: Dog, Cat, Bird, Lion, Pig, Horse, Duck, Monkey, Cow, and Mouse. We say each word twice and then make the animal noise 4 times. His favorite part is, of course, the noises.
Me:
- I get my iPhone is just a little over a week. I'm SUPER excited! It's my early 30th birthday present.
- Speaking of birthdays...I've decided to have a giant cookout at my house for my 30th, on my 30th since it's a Saturday. So mark your calendars now. :) Invitations forthcoming.
- I've been struggling with pumping. My milk seems like it's starting to dry up. I refuse to quit. I'm hoping to hold out the 10 more days of school and then go back to breastfeeding exclusively for a while. Then we're going to try formula again in July I think.
- I hate work right now. My kids suck. I got a death threat last week. And had two parents yell at me. Jerks. I just want this year to end.
- Next year's schedule looks awesome though! I'm not teaching 7th grade- thank GOD- and will be picking up the Creative Writing elective. I'm also still teaching the gifted kids.
Kendall:
- He's been working on the Great Wall of Erdahl and we have the first half complete. I'm so glad he can do these kinds of things.
- Also been super awesome about packing my lunches in the morning and getting Max off to daycare. I think he likes having that time with him in the morning.
- Going to a conference at the end of July in Orlando. I'm heading with him for the 4 days and will be hanging out with Max at the resort. It looks super nice and I think Kendall is looking forward to me going this year. It used to be in Chicago (I was actually going to go to see Viki!) but the conference people decided to change it up.
- Driving around in the Bird Turdmobile. Since we've been hauling all this dirt in, the birds have been finding more worms. And shitting all over his car since it's in the drive while we store various tools in the garage. LOL! He's really tired of it. And calls his card the above-mentioned name.
Gotta go! Ciao!

Sorry to hear that life is hectic... wait no, not really. Welcome to motherhood. :-) You honestly can say that no one told you... you just didn't believe it. :-D
Sounds like life is fun, hectic and full of everyday adventures. The Turdmobile I think almost deserves a picture on the blog. :-)
well that was a good update - i've been watching and waiting for one.
The 10 days of school and pumping is a drag but you're right it is worth it and natural feeding will be so much better/easier.
I completely understand about the working mom thing - lots to juggle, lots to keep straight. The benefits you can offer kids with two incomes is nice though- nicole's college fund is 4 digits and we both relish the time we spend together because we're not sick of one another.
yeah for a cook-out! yeah for a FL trip! yeah for flash cards!
So has Max started to recognize the flash cards yet? He is going to be super smart because you started him early.
I have heard that boys talk later than girls, I don't know if this is true, but that might be why Max isn't as vocal. Or he could just be a quiet person...(unlike his mother ;)
I cannot believe you got a death threat! What is this world coming too?!?! I wouldn't want to be a teacher anymore with guns in schools and death threats. You're brave!
With regards to talking, where is he supposed to be developmentally? I thought babies who started talking before their first birthdays were early talkers. I've also read that simply talking to your baby will help with speach. You can tell him about everything you're packing in your lunch box. :-)
Glad everything else is going well, albeit a little hectic. You're almost there with the school year, and next year sounds great!
Glad for an update!
I've heard fenugreek is good for increasing lactation. It's a spice often found in curries. It's taste resembles maple and is often used as an artifical flavoring for cheapie maple syrups. (just to show you that it's a tasty spice with benefits!!)
Max sounds cute. Does he have a favorite animal sound?
Good luck - 9 more days of school. :) Single digits (after today, I'm assuming). :) By the way, your students and their parents suck. I can't imagine people treating a teacher like that, a stranger, or a new mom! Geesh.
Turdmobile -ha! Around here people called poison control for some brown smudge that showed up spattered all over people's property. They thought (being the paranoid hippies they are out here) that it was some kind of toxic waste or being leaked from airplanes. Turns out there's a ton of bees in the area and it's bee poop! Who knew they pooped so much?!??
Ha! Bird Turdmobile! Haha!!! Picture please!!!
