Since Morrie had more of his teeth pulled in January, we've been softening his food with water. He doesn't have any teeth on the top, right side of his mouth and very few on the bottom on that side. We noticed that he wasn't eating the food hard and as soon as we made it mushy he would chow.
We've been having a problem with Maggie trying to eat his food too. We thought maybe it was because she was bored with her own food. So we bought her something new. It seemed to work for a while, but lately we've been yelling at her again for eating Morrie's.
This morning I noticed that she was sitting by the sink staring at Morrie's bowl while the food soaked. After placing his bowl on the floor, she immediately tried to snack with him. So I tried something new...I told Kendall to take her bowl to the sink and put some water on the food. She sat there staring at the bowl and then followed Kendall back to her spot on the floor and promptly ate more than half of the food in one sitting.
Basically, she thinks we're putting some type of gravy on Morrie's food and not hers. That's why she's been eating his food. As soon as she thought we were putting the same "gravy" on her food, she ate it. Silly puppy.

MMMMM, that post made me hungry for gravy!
what a smart doggie and jealous sister! :)
Crack me up!!
That's funny. Our cats like wet food, but only get it on special occasions like their birthdays or Christmas. They can definitely tell the difference between water-soaked dry food and wet food. :-)
