My Week and Weekend

So I could write forever about the first week of school. But I won't. It was hot. It was miserable. It was nice that it was only 4 days long. And I'm glad this week will be too!

Overall, I think the kids will be okay, once I'm done being a crazy bitch for a while. I have one boy though that it going to drive me off the deep end if I let him. He only attended 2 of the 4 days for students last week. The first day I only saw him for short spurts of time and it was fine. The second day (Friday) he was here a full day and his true colors started to show.

So he's a big fat liar. He seemed to do okay for the 90 minutes I had to teach him. It's the down time that is going to kill him. He has to sit in my room for 45 minutes at the end of each day in a study hall type atmosphere. I had to fight with him the whole period to even have something out to work on. Then he asked me if he could go see his math teacher for help. They're allowed to do that, so I signed his hall pass. He was gone five minutes, came back, and then proceeded to do nothing the rest of the period. At one point he even lied and told me all of his homework was done (which I knew it wasn't). I called his bluff and told him to go turn in the math worksheet he'd gone for help on. He admitted it wasn't done, but still did NOTHING. At the end of the day, I found out he hadn't even gone to see the math teacher. He had just disappeared for 5 minutes. NICE. He's getting busted tomorrow. I could go into further details, but I won't Needless to say, he's going to be a pain in my ass. I hope he skips his punishment and gets in-school suspension. Then I won't have to see him for a while.

So the weekend was spent relaxing, shopping, spending time with friends, and finished with a whopping $155 speeding ticket. YEEAAAAAHHHH. Total speed trap too. We were driving home from Kendall's parent's and decided to try a new back road off the highway. We were zooming along, me being very conscious about my speed on a holiday, when suddenly there were flashing lights behind us. I was like, "WHAT!!!!". So we pull over and this rookie sheriff comes up to the window asking me "if I knew why [he'd] pulled me over" and of course I'm like "No".

He claimed I was doing 50 in a 35. There was no sign indicating it was a 35mph zone, I even asked Kendall. And the last sign I had passed said 55. And I was barely doing 60. I told him exactly that. He said it was 35. How do you argue with that? So I gave him my license and the stupid HOLE gave me a ticket. And in North Charleston (some podunk half mile strip right outside of Troy) 1-20 miles over is $155. 1 to freaking 20!!!!! How is that even legal? The cheapest violation on the ticket was a seat belt for $75. The part that pissed me off the most was that I was totally going with the flow of traffic. And I think he pulled me over because I had the personalized plates. STUPID HOLE!!!!!!! Needless to say I scribbled my name as sloppily as possible on the ticket and then sweetly said, "Have a nice holiday officer."

OHHHH!!! And the best part is that he totally admitted that he only gave me the ticket because it was a holiday!@!!!!!! WHAT THE F*CK!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I'll pay his stupid ticket, because I'm so not showing up to Hee Haw small town court. It's the only thing on my license. So I'll live. Time to go pick out my picture day outfit for school.

I learned this same lesson not too long ago in Franklin... ALWAYS ask to see the speed ticket. The guns print one out. You could totally fight this one especially because of what he said. Just FYI.

Glad things are going well for the start of school. Guess there's always one bad apple in the bunch. Hopefully things will ease up and maybe he's just testing the waters to see what he can and can't get away with.

that's annoying. I haven't had a ticket in a while though i did get out of one seveal years ago doing exactly what sarah suggested. He (the cop) argued that he doesn't have to show it to us (he doesn't) but since i insisted he showed me. I still persisted that it was wrong and i got off!

Uggghhh, what a jerky cop! Sorry you got a ticket. Hopefully your new kids will be ok. I bet your students from last year will stop by to see you a lot.

Actually Laura, you're right. We have had lots of visitors. And that helps A LOT. :)
