The Beginning of our Trip

Saturday- We went to a bat mitzvah in the morning, which I've never been to before. It was fascinating since most of it was in Hebrew. They provided us with English translations too, which made it even more interesting. I turned to Kendall at one point and said, "This is why Jesus died on the cross for us...so I didn't have to learn Hebrew." Slightly blasphemous....but also, slightly true! LOL!

We spent the afternoon driving to Knoxville, TN which took about 5 hours. It was actually a pretty quick drive and we had a good deal of fun along the way. I'll post pictures later. We stayed for the night at a Baymont Hotel, which we were highly impressed with. It was clean, relatively untacky in terms of decorations, and the price we relatively decent, only 70 bucks.

Sunday-We left the hotel at about 10:30. We decided that we wanted to stop at the Biltmore Estate on Asheville, NC. Now if you've never seen this house, I'll post some pictures later. It was INCREDIBLE! I'd take just being a servant in this house! Their furniture was nicer than most of mine! And it was hilarious because the booklet we bought to explain the house said that the servant furniture was considered "low quality" because it was mass produced. It was made of chestnut and mahogany. YEAH. I asked if I could steal some, and the tour guide told me no.

It was totally worth the visit and if you're ever down in that area, it's worth the stop. It's easily a 2 or 3 day adventure if you want to truely see everything. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and barely got to see the whole house. We rushed the end of the tour because we were tired, hungry and needed to get to Hilton Head.

We arrived safe and sound about 9 last night and had a delicious meal with the whole family. Ribs, baked beans, and corn on the cob!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you're posting while you're away!!!

my parents went to the biltmore for a 2 day adventure and loved it. They said that many of the tours were interesting and non-repetitive. Dad did a rooftop tour that he highly recommended!

I'm glad to know you're posting while vacationing....
I accidently clicked onto your site and was surprised to find a recent post! I was "avoiding" your site b/c I thought you were going to be gone for the week!

Biltmore. hmmm. I think my brother and his wife may have honeymooned near there. I know my aunt and uncle visited and loved it. I never knew what the big deal was (I've never been and never really heard much about it)

I saw this article and thought of you...It's about one couple trying to get pregnant, going thru treatments, emotional strains, physical strains, etc. And the joy of going for adoption. I thought it was sweet. I hope it doesn't piss you off or make you sad. I thought I'd forward it on to you as a support gesture.

I'm laughing my ass off at Kendall's joke. Very off-color, but funny.
