I was on my way to the outlet malls today (since I had NO SCHOOL!) and passed by one of those semis with the holes in the sides. You know, the ones that transport animals. The truck started this whole thought process about the animals that actually ride in those trucks.
1. It was really cold out today. So cold that they closed school. Fortunately there weren't any animals in the truck when I drove by it. But it made me think, don't they get frost bite too? Their skin would be exposed to the elements and wind too.
2. Do they know where they're going? Do the animals in the truck know they're going to be slaughtered? Of course not. They have no idea why they're in the truck.
3. Are they uncomfortable? Do they pack them in too tightly? Do they get to stand and sit and lay down? Or are they forced into one position the whole ride?
By the time I got to the malls I was actually a little sad. I love meat. I could never give up eatting it. But I really hate seeing the trucks with pigs staring back at me. I'd rather not know what my food looks like before I eat it.

Here's something to ponder....(if there were animals in the truck): are they going to slaughter, OR to a finishing farm where the put on the final weight...?
Glad you finally got your "snow" (ok, COLD) days! Yay for you!!!!!
yeah, the animals in the truck thing is sad. That's why i only like to consider that when it's summer and i tell myself they're headed to the fair. :)
But at the finising farms they get to go with all their friends, make new friends (it's just like camp!) AND they get to eat so much yummy food w/o having to hear momma mentioning they're acting like a cow. or worse, a PIG.
