If you haven't already heard of my obessions with the movie...I've watched it at least 15 times since buying it 2 months ago. Any time I have a bad day, I pop it in the DVD player. Now I'm in the middle of reading the book. This has got to be one of the best love stories I've ever read. It takes my breath away. Jane Austen was a genius. (Plus, it makes me feel very intellectual reading it...hehe!)
5. "Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."
4. "The power of doing anything with quickness is always prized much by the possessor, and often without any attention to the imperfection of the performance."
3. "I love you... most ardently..."
2. "You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. "
And the Number 1 "Quotable Quote" of Pride and Prejudice...
1. "You have insulted me in every possible way, and can now have nothing further to say. I must ask you to leave immediately."

Is this your first time reading P&P? I constantly read the last chapter over and over then skip to other favorite parts of the book. Do you have the A&E version of the movie, too? Also very good! It think it was Mrs. Stocals back in high school that got me hooked on P&P.
Love that last quote - I've wanted to say that to I don't know how many people in the past. I guess if one of Jane Austin's characters said it, it must be socially acceptable!
I love Jane Austin, but have never read or seen (not yet, as I have to wait for some girl alone time to do so) P&P. I'm sure as soon as I post this... I will have "WHAT?!?!?!" emails... but that's ok.
I HAVE seen the A& E version...Colin Firth....I just don't think he's a sexy Darcy....But it was still a good version.
I've never read the book before. I was so anti-Stocals that I'd never have read it in HS. Now I have a different appreciation for her as a teacher....but then, I wanted to stab her eyes out with a hot stoker...Hehe...
Okay...did you get the joke? Stocals....poker....stoker....LOL! Had to make sure someone appreciated it....
Great quotes!!! I will have to read P&P!!
stoker poker? Oh geez...That's kind of funny, because her English class was my absolute favorite. She was one of my favorite teachers. Now hit a poker/stoker at the 10th grade English teacher...who was it? Zupanski? Ugh, I hated that guy. Stoke his eyes out!
On a tangent...I had Stocals' husband in college...he was a little strange. More like a lot strange. He would talk about this one classical piece and exclaim how the french horns played a part that most resembled a male organism. Needless to say, I can't take French Horns totally seriously anymore. *wink*
Apparently I'm still in "second grade" mode: I meant to say male orgasm.
LOL! I love the organism!
